Name
Earn Points Grid
Core Skill
Endurance, technique, and teamwork across multiple strokes and skills.
Who
Swim team members or advanced swim lesson groups (Level 3 and up).
What
A grid-based points game where lanes compete to earn the most points by completing challenges from three columns: 1 Point, 3 Points, and 5 Points.
How
Each lane chooses a column, then an activity inside that column. The lane completes the activity and earns the points for that column. The team with the most points at the end wins.
- Cannot do the same column two times in a row.
- Can only do each activity 1 time. No repeating the same thing over and over.
- Take turns who chooses what to do. Send one rep to the board to make a choice, then they go back and explain to the lane.
Difficulties Instructors Might Face
Some swimmers may struggle with the more advanced challenges (e.g., 25 FLY with fins under 20 seconds). Be ready to offer modifications or allow lanes to choose a different activity if a challenge is too difficult. Also, ensure that lanes understand the rules about not repeating columns or activities to keep the game fair and engaging.
