Front Glide Script (cue)

Definition: The front glide script is one of the scripts that are wonderful and should be used, practiced aloud, and spoken every lesson to every swimmer. It is taught within Supported Front Floats, reviewing the progression from full support to limited support.

Core cues:

  1. Lock your thumb
  2. Squeeze your ears (behind)
  3. Look down
  4. Hands on shoulders
  5. Hands in hands
  6. Brief glide alone, then hands in hands.

Coach interpretation:

  • Lock your thumb: Show good streamline; highlight this as one of the three things to a great SL.
  • Squeeze your ears (behind): Show good streamline; highlight this as one of the three things to a great SL.
  • Look down: Show good streamline; highlight this as one of the three things to a great SL.
  • Hands on shoulders: Full support stage of the progression from full support to limited support.
  • Hands in hands: Limited support stage of the progression from full support to limited support.
  • Brief glide alone, then hands in hands: Limited support stage of the progression from full support to limited support.

Teaching strategy:
