Swimming Game – Legs on Fire

This high-energy rescue game is perfect for building kicking endurance, sprinting speed, and teamwork in a fun, engaging way. It works well for novice swimmers who are comfortable with basic kicking sets.

Setup & Equipment

  • Kickboards (one per participating swimmer)

How to Play: The Rescue Mission

  1. Have all your swimmers get kickboards.
  2. Get into one lane or an open large area.
  3. Get 1 bucket and fill with water.
  4. All but 1 swimmers starts an easy kick set.
  5. Waiting swimmer not participating is the Fire Truck.
  6. Coach/Instructor gives an item to one of the kickers and declares that their LEGS ARE ON FIRE!
  7. The Fire Truck must kick sprint to the Legs on Fire swimmer and use the bucket to "put out the fire." The Fire Truck swimmer should have the bucket on top of their kickboard, making sure not to spill any water.
  8. Each child gets a chance to be the Fire Truck, allowing everyone to experience the thrill of the rescue!

This ideal game is suitable for a 50-meter pool or for novice swimmers looking to build confidence and power.
