Champion Swimmer: Advanced Lane Challenge Game

Level 3Ages 12+FreestyleFlip TurnStreamliningKicking

Name

Champion Swimmer

Core Skill

Freestyle technique, flip turns, streamlining, and powerful kicking.

Who

Advanced swimmers (Intermediate to Advanced levels). This game is best played with multiple lanes of capable swimmers.

What

Each lane designates a 'Champion' to attempt a specific, complex swimming activity. The success or failure of the Champion determines whether the entire lane must perform the activity (success) or perform a penalty kick set (failure).

How

1. Selection: Have each lane pick one 'Champion.' Do not tell the swimmers what stroke or activity they will be doing initially.

Difficulties Instructors Might Face

Managing multiple lanes simultaneously can be chaotic. Ensure clear boundaries and loud, authoritative calls are used to maintain order. Also, remember that the penalty kick should always be focused on technique (e.g., dolphin kick or flutter kick) rather than just endurance, keeping the focus on skill improvement.
