Who
All participants in the group, starting with a volunteer who is bold and willing to try something new.
What
This challenge is designed to test the participants’ ability to do something they have never done before, without fear or hesitation. It also encourages them to be creative and have fun.
How
- The Lesson Coordinator asks for a volunteer who is bold and willing to try something new.
- The volunteer comes up with a wild and goofy dance of three moves. They can use any body parts, props, or sounds they want.
- The volunteer demonstrates their dance in front of the group, with enthusiasm and confidence.
- The Lesson Coordinator then asks everyone else in the group to take turns performing the same dance in front of everyone else, as closely as possible to the original.
- The Lesson Coordinator observes how each participant performs the dance, and gives feedback on their confidence, creativity, and accuracy.
- The Lesson Coordinator also asks the participants to share how they felt during the challenge, what they learned, and what they enjoyed or disliked.
- Anyone can say “no” to performing the dance, but that means they fail the challenge.
Difficulties Instructors Might Face
- Participants feeling embarrassed, shy, or nervous about performing a silly dance in front of others.
- Participants having trouble remembering or replicating the dance moves.
- Participants lacking creativity or originality in coming up with their own dance.
- Participants being too self-conscious or critical of themselves or others.
- Participants not having fun or enjoying the challenge.
